Illegible License Plates
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is taking J plates out of rotation due to some incorrect craftsmanship. A registration plate is deemed illegible when one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet, or if the registration plate shows any blistering, peeling, discoloration or loss of reflectivity. If your license plate starts with the letters DEFGHJ or Y, you can apply for a free replacement by printing Form MV-46 from www.dmv.pa.gov and
